Corebody Stretch applies concepts of neuromuscular reeducation. When you attempt to  stretch muscles forcefully, the nervous system will illicit a stretch reflex. The stretch reflex is our body’s defense against harmful stretching. Once triggered, it will resist the muscle from being stretched any further.  Corebody Stretch implements methods that manipulate the neuromuscular junction in order to allow for a full stretch. Current research shows that if we can avoid the “stretch reflex” our muscles can lengthen by 160 percent.

Yes, by correcting muscle imbalances and improving posture, stretching can help add 1-2 inches.

Our practitioners hold an Athletic Training Certification. Athletic Trainers (AT) traditionally work with athletes to keep their bodies healthy for competition. They are experts when it comes to keeping people limber.

Expect to increase flexibility and release tension in just one session. Before getting into the stretch, we will hold a consultation to ensure that the stretches can be tailored towards your needs.

Wear comfortable and loose clothing that will allow for an effective stretch, without restriction.

Many of us have adhesions between our fascia and muscles do to trauma, stress, and even inactivity. Focused stretching of our muscles can break up adhesions and result in minor soreness. This is a good soreness and is not to be mistaken with over-stretching the muscle. Corebody Stretch increases your range of motion without compromising the integrity of your joints and muscles.

The application of  active or passive stretching depends on the circumstances. Is the stretch before or after athletic competition? If before, active. If after, passive. Are we working with someone with muscular spasticity due to neuromuscular conditions? Are we working with an elite athlete or are we working with an elderly client?  These are just a few examples on what would affect the implementation of a stretch. A thorough assessment during your first session will allow us to provide you the best service.

In regards to rhythm, holds can range from 5-10 seconds. Rhythm is dependent on factors such as whether the stretch is before or after activity. Is the goal to enhance performance or to help the body relax and go to sleep?
